‘Sowore: Man Detained for 10 Weeks for Using President Buhari’s Daughter’s Abandoned Phone Line’

Omoyele Sowore has recounted a story about a Nigerian man who, reportedly, spent 10 weeks in detention for using a phone line previously owned and discarded by President Buhari’s daughter, Hanan.

According to a friend of the arrested man, Anthony Chude Okolie, he unknowingly purchased the new SIM card from a store without knowing the previous owner. He was taken aback when the Department of State Services (DSS) allegedly showed up at his friend’s home in Asaba to apprehend him and subsequently detained him for months.

Sowore, the convener of the Revolution Now movement, shared the story on his Twitter handle stating, “A Nigerian, Anthony Okolia, was detained for 10 weeks by the DSS for using an MTN phone line previously used and abandoned by President Buhari’s daughter, Hanan!”

Adding to the account, a friend said, “Anthony Chude Okolie… Not Okolia. He is my friend and my primary school classmate. He bought the NEW sim card from a shop. It was a big shock when the DSS came to Asaba to arrest him at his friend’s home. He was detained for several months by the DSS.”
