Sokoto Governor Urged by Shehu Sani to Protect Sultanate from Kano Emirate Virus

Shehu Sani, the former Senator who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has urged Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State to ensure that the viruses affecting the Kano emirate do not spread to the Sultanate.

His comments come in response to rumored tensions between the Sultanate and the Governor of Kano State.

There were allegations from the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) claiming that Governor Aliyu was considering the deposition of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III.

MURIC made these allegations in light of the ongoing controversies and tensions surrounding the depositions of some monarchs in Kano State.

Expressing his thoughts on Monday, Sani emphasized that the Sultanate is not solely under the ownership of the people of Sokoto State, as it has multiple stakeholders.

He appealed to the Governor of Sokoto State not to allow the damaging influences that affected the Kano emirate to impact the Sultanate.

“It is crucial for the Governor to be mindful of the broader implications and not let the contagion spread. The Sultanate has a diverse set of stakeholders, and its preservation is a collective responsibility,” he highlighted.
