Sister of pregnant woman who died after childbirth in Lagos speaks to LIB, denies reports her deceased sister's hubby beat her to death

The sister of Olayemisi Ogunbi, who tragically died during childbirth in Lagos, has spoken out to refute claims that her brother-in-law, Lukman Ogunbi, is responsible for her sister’s death. Lukman has also denied the allegations that he beat his wife to death. In an exclusive interview with LIB, the sister, Dayo, firmly denied the false rumors circulating on social media that her sister was murdered by her husband.

According to Dayo, while her deceased sister and her husband had their marital issues like any couple, it was not to the extent of her brother-in-law beating his wife. She emphasized that there was no truth to the rumors that her sister died as a result of beatings from her husband.

Dayo shared details about her sister’s pregnancy and the events leading up to her tragic passing. She disclosed that her sister faced complications after giving birth and underwent surgery in the ICU. Dayo also revealed that her late sister was unable to speak at the hospital because she was most of the time sedated, adding that if there had been any mistreatment, Olayemisi would have informed her family.

When asked if her late sister ever confided in her about her husband beating her, Dayo acknowledged that they had their issues as a couple but strongly refuted the notion of her brother-in-law causing her sister’s death.

She also mentioned that friends of Olayemisi, whom they suspect may have initiated the false news, have denied any knowledge of such abuse by her husband during her pregnancy.

The bereaved sister expressed her shock and frustration at the rumors, affirming that she would not defend her brother-in-law if he had taken her sister’s life. She emphasized that while marriage may have its challenges, she could not make excuses for any wrongful behavior.

Throughout the interview, Dayo maintained her stance that there was no evidence to support the claims that Lukman had physically harmed her sister, emphasizing that she was unaware of any such incidents during Olayemisi’s pregnancy.
