Simisola Kosoko, known as Simi, recently shared that her husband, Adekunle Gold, was the one who sparked the idea for her song ‘Men Are Crazy’.
The track, featuring Tiwa Savage, stirred up mixed reactions upon its release, especially from male social media users who criticized the song for its perceived condescending tone.
During an appearance on Angela Yee’s podcast, ‘Way Up,’ Simi revealed that it was Adekunle Gold who proposed the concept for the song.
She recalled, “My husband came up with the concept for ‘Men Are Crazy’. He suggested, ‘How about we create a song where you talk about how men are crazy, but I’m still crazy about having one in my life?’
“I thought it was an unexpected idea from me, so I decided to work on the song. Initially, I had already written two verses but felt like something was lacking. Suddenly, it dawned on me that I wanted Tiwa to be part of the track. Despite our differing music styles, I envisioned the collaboration blending our strengths together. I reached out to Tiwa, she added her verse, and we collaborated on the music video.”
