Shutdown in Niger: Airports, Secretariat, Hospitals, and More Affected by Strike

In Niger State, the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has taken action to shutdown the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna and several other government establishments in the state capital.

Leading a joint monitoring and evaluation committee, the state chairman of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Ibrahim Gana, along with other state NLC executives, ensured strict compliance with the strike in the state.

Various government establishments in Minna were visited, including the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Federal Inland Revenue Service, Federal Secretariat Complex, Niger State High Court Complex, and Niger State Board of Internal Revenue Service.

Other affected locations are the Niger State Urban Development Board, Niger State Universal Basic Education Board, General Hospital, Office of the Deputy Governor, Niger State Secretariat, and the Niger State House Assembly.

Speaking to the press after the monitoring exercise, Gana stated that the industrial action was taken in the interest of the citizens.

He highlighted that compliance across the state was at 99%, with only a few organizations having a small number of workers attempting to provide essential services, who were subsequently asked to leave by the monitoring and evaluation committee members.
