Shooting Incident in Benue Leads to Woman’s Death and Abduction of Rivers State Revenue Director

In a tragic event in Makurdi, Benue State, a woman named Theresa Awuhe was fatally shot by unidentified gunmen. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Aribibia Fubara, a director at the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service, was abducted.

The woman was targeted and killed by the criminals as she was returning from her shop late at night. Reports suggest that the assailants did not steal anything from her before fleeing the scene.

An anonymous resident recounted the incident. The Police Public Relations Officer for Benue Command, SP Catherine Anene, acknowledged the situation and confirmed that an investigation was underway.

According to reports, Fubara was abducted by a group of gunmen who arrived via a speedboat at the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt.

The gunmen, estimated to be around six in number, caused chaos by firing shots into the air in a commando-style operation before seizing Fubara and fleeing the scene with him in their boat.

Fubara, a Knight of Saint Christopher of the Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria, was taken without any communication with his family by the abductors.

The state police command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and assured that efforts were in place to secure Fubara’s safe release.

Superintendent of Police Iringe-Koko stated, “The Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, has deployed tactical units and informed all area commanders to prioritize the victim’s rescue and apprehend the suspects involved.”
