An altercation over a soft drink between two friends, Abdullahi Audu and Usman Muhammed, turned violent in a Fulani community in Ogun state on Monday, November 20. The dispute culminated in Audu severing Muhammed’s entire wrist with a cutlass. In a retaliatory move, Muhammed then stabbed Audu in the stomach with a knife, reportedly causing Audu’s intestine to protrude.
Although the cause of the quarrel remains unclear, the situation spiraled into a bloody clash before the intervention of bystanders. Alhaji Wakili, the Seriki of Fulani in the community, promptly reported the incident to the Owode Egba Police Division upon witnessing the violent altercation.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, stated that an investigation into the matter has been initiated. “The incident occurred on Monday. We are investigating the matter,” Odutola said.
