Shaibu: Obaseki has my forgiveness

Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, expressed his forgiveness towards Governor Godwin Obaseki despite feeling marginalized after giving his sacrifices and loyalty.

Shaibu shared this sentiment during discussions with reporters following a meeting with the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, held at the party headquarters in Abuja.

He emphasized the imperfect nature of human behavior, highlighting that only God is flawless.

Shaibu cited the divine commandment of loving one’s neighbor as oneself as the basis for his decision to forgive his superior, believing that adherence to this principle would promote global peace.

Reflecting on his dedication to Obaseki’s success, Shaibu disclosed his selfless contributions that included foregoing financial entitlements and official perks, all in the interest of maintaining harmony and unity.

While underscoring his commitment to the state’s welfare, Shaibu criticized the state government’s request for the return of 22 official vehicles under his care, asserting ownership of all but one jeep personally purchased by the governor during their third year in office.

He emphasized the crucial role of enhancing internal party democracy in achieving political stability, attributing leadership crises to the prevalence of self-interest overriding collective aspirations.

Regarding the upcoming Edo State gubernatorial election, Shaibu expressed optimism about the APC candidate’s prospects for victory.
