Seven IPOB members arrested in Abia

The security agencies have arrested seven members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) following a protest in Aba on Monday June 8. The protest was against the alleged killing of Christians and Biafrans in the country.

The arrested members were seen with Biafran flags, charms, and different insignia as they began the protest at the Ala Oji Flyover in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area. The protest ended at the SAMECK junction of Ariaria International Market.

According to reports, there was shooting by security operatives to disperse the crowd, resulting in injuries to some IPOB members.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Janet Agbede, confirmed the arrest of the protesters but did not provide the exact number. She stated that the arrested individuals would be taken to the Umuahia (Police Headquarters) the following day, where the exact number of those arrested would be determined.
