Senator Eze: Fuel subsidy elimination boosts government functionality

Senator Kenneth Eze, who represents Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone in the Upper Chamber, emphasized that the removal of fuel subsidy has generated sufficient funds for both federal and state governments to operate effectively.

Speaking during his one-year constituency briefing in Ohaigbo Amagu, Ezza South Local Government Area (LGA), Eze, the Senate Committee Chairman on Information, reiterated that although the subsidy’s immediate impact might be challenging, its long-term advantages will soon become evident to the citizens.

He described the removal as a necessary step to avert a financial crisis within the government:

“It was crucial to eliminate the subsidy to prevent resource depletion. Without this action, states, in particular, would have struggled to finance their operations. I join other leaders in appealing to the citizens for patience.”

Addressing the current economic challenges, Eze pointed out that Nigeria’s issues did not originate from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration but had accumulated over several years:

“Nigerians must understand that leaders empathize with their struggles. Over time, the current administration’s policies will yield positive outcomes and lead to a better future for all. Implementing effective economic policies requires courage and responsiveness to rectify past mistakes and secure citizens’ welfare.”

He expressed gratitude to State Governor Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru for promoting unity and fulfilling the people’s Charter of Needs manifesto. Eze pledged continuous support to the governor and his constituents:

“The governor’s commitment to fostering unity in the state has enabled effective leadership, ensuring that we benefit from his generosity.”

Commending Senator Eze for his dedication to his constituents, Chief Moses Ogbdo-Ali Nome, Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state, emphasized the importance of effective representation:

“During these challenging times, people seek good governance and appreciate leaders who prioritize their well-being.”
