Security guard allegedly shoots 26-year-old man dead in Rivers (video)

The unfortunate incident in Rivers state involving the alleged shooting of a 26-year-old man, Chijioke Amadi, by a security guard attached to an indigenous company in Elele-Alimini, Emohua Local Government Area, has caused distress. Emeka Woke, a relative of the deceased, confirmed the incident during an interview with a popular Radio Station (92.3 Nigeria Info), Port Harcourt on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

According to Emeka, his brother was shot dead while returning from their father’s farm on Monday, December 25. “What happened was that one of our brothers went to the farm yesterday. On his way back, he had a gunshot from SIAT company security,” he said.

“He just shot him. We have evidence because the boy was not alone. They were about four in number. They shot him on our own land,” Emeka added. He mentioned that in response to the incident, local youths took the boy’s body and placed it in front of the company premises.

Happiness Amadi, the widow of the late Chijioke Amadi, expressed her shock and grief over the tragic event. She recounted, “Yesterday, I was at home when my husband said he was going to the waterside. So I was at home with my newborn baby. Next thing I heard was that Siat security shot him on the lap. He went to his grandfather’s farm.”

“There is somebody who followed him that is aware of the shooting. Let the government please arrest the people that shot him. Secondly, I don’t have anybody to take care of my child for me,” she pleaded.

The extent of the tragedy is evident in a video capturing the aftermath of the incident, which has been shared on various platforms. You can watch the video here.
