Secondary School Admission Exam Sees Participation from 62,000 Pupils

Over 62,000 Primary Six students took the 2024 common entrance (placement) exams for admission into public junior secondary schools across all 16 Local Government Areas in Kwara State on Saturday.

In Ilorin, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, revealed these details while overseeing the examination alongside a ministry team at selected centers in Ilorin, Oke-Ero, and Ekiti Local Government Areas.

A statement from the ministry’s Press Secretary, Peter Amogbonjaye, shared by NewsNow on Sunday, quoted the commissioner expressing satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the exam.

Modibbo-Kawu noted the peaceful and timely start of the exam at the visited centers, commending Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for prioritizing education quality and sponsoring the primary-to-junior secondary school transition exam.

She praised the state government and the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development for their efficient preparation and smooth execution of the exam, ensuring a satisfactory experience at various centers statewide.

“Our government will support public school enrollment by creating a conducive environment for enhanced learning outcomes.

“Education is a top priority for our administration, guaranteeing equitable access to quality education,” the commissioner affirmed.

The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Rebecca Olanrewaju-Bake, appreciated the governor’s timely funding for the exam and urged teachers to continue their dedicated efforts in complementing government initiatives to revive the education sector.

The Director of the Curriculum and Assessment Department, Mrs. Victoria Adewuyi, hailed this year’s exam as one of the most successful in recent memory.

Representing the parents, Mrs. Aisha Ahmed praised the state government for organizing the placement exam in a conducive setting and sponsoring the process.
