SDP Gubernatorial Candidate in Kogi State Condemns University Students Abduction

Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, the Governorship Candidate representing the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the upcoming Kogi State 2023 gubernatorial election, has strongly criticized the recent abduction of students at the Confluence University of Science and Technology.

Issued on Friday by Isaiah Davies Ijele, Director of New Media for the Muri/Sam Campaign Council, Ajaka expressed his dismay over the barbaric and unfortunate attack on the university.

He voiced out his concerns, stating that the incident in Kogi State highlighted the shortcomings in policing, particularly under the leadership of the outgoing Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bethrand Onouha.

Expressing sadness over the abduction of students who were preparing for their First Semester Examinations scheduled to commence on May 13, 2024, Ajaka described the act as inhumane and unjust to the young students.

The lack of clarity regarding the number of abducted students raised further concerns, with reports suggesting over 40 students were taken despite conflicting information from the state government. Ajaka emphasized the importance of transparency and cautioned against any attempts to conceal the truth.

He urged the Kogi State Government to utilize all available security resources to ensure the safe return of the students to their families and urged immediate action to enhance security measures in both the state and the university.

Emphasizing the need for swift resolution and prioritization of student safety, Ajaka called on Governor Usman Ododo’s administration to address the issue promptly.
