Samuel Ortom’s Election as Benue Governor Upheld by Supreme Court

The Governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom, has had his election victory affirmed by the Supreme Court.

Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, leading a panel of seven Justices, dismissed the appeal filed by the APC and its governorship candidate, Emmanuel Jime, citing a lack of merit.

In the March 2019 state governorship supplementary election, Ortom secured 434,473 votes, surpassing Mr Jime, who obtained 345,155 votes.
