Sam Lloyd, known for his role in Scrubs, passes away at 56 after a battle with a brain tumor

Actor Sam Lloyd, best recognized as lawyer Ted Buckland on the show Scrubs, has passed away at 56.

Since last year, Lloyd had been fighting an inoperable brain tumor. This diagnosis came in January 2019, only a few weeks after the birth of his first child, Weston, with his wife Vanessa.

The creator of the show, Bill Lawrence, confirmed the news on Friday night through a post on Twitter, expressing his thoughts about Sam Lloyd’s passing: “Thinking a lot about Sam Lloyd today. (Ted). Truly such a kind, sweet guy. He will be missed by so many.”

According to his agent, Lloyd had a successful television career, appearing in “Desperate Housewives,” “Seinfeld,” “Modern Family,” “The West Wing,” “Cougar Town,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” and “Shameless.” He also had roles in the films “Flubber” and “Galaxy Quest.”

Besides his acting, Lloyd was also known as a singer with the Acappella group The Blanks.

Many of his former colleagues paid tribute to him on social media, including Zach Braff and Bill Lawrence. Zach Braff wrote, “Rest In Peace to one of the funniest actors I’ve ever had the joy of working with. Sam Lloyd made me crack up and break character every single time we did a scene together. He could not have been a kinder man. I will forever cherish the time I had with you, Sammy.”

Bill Lawrence, the creator of “Scrubs,” described him as a “kind, sweet guy” who will be missed by many.

Sam Lloyd is survived by his wife Vanessa and their son Weston.
