Sad news: Veteran journalist, Jacob Zango, has passed away leaving SWAN in mourning


The Kaduna State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) is in deep sorrow following the loss of one of its long-time members, Jacob Zango.

Jacob Zango, a respected journalist, breathed his last in Kaduna after a brief illness on Wednesday.

In a statement released in Kaduna on Friday, SWAN Kaduna Secretary, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, conveyed the heartfelt condolences.

Shehu Abdullahi, the Chairman of SWAN Kaduna, expressed his shock at Zango’s sudden demise upon hearing the news.

“On behalf of our members and SWAN President, Isaiah Kemje Benjamin, who also hails from our state, we share the sorrow over the passing of our esteemed colleague,” said the Kaduna SWAN Chairman.

The statement highlighted the close relationship between the late Zango and the Chairman during their time working together at the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC).

Zango’s expertise and wisdom were invaluable, making his loss deeply felt within SWAN.

SWAN sent its condolences to Zango’s family, KSMC, the Atyap community, the Kaduna State Government, and all his friends and fellow professionals.

“May his soul rest in peace,” the statement expressed the final prayer for the departed journalist.
