Russian missile attack claims lives and leaves many injured in Ukraine

A tragic incident unfolded in Chernihiv, Northern Ukraine, resulting in the loss of at least 14 lives due to a devastating Russian missile strike. The attack, which targeted an eight-storey building in a densely populated area, also inflicted injuries on over 60 individuals, as reported by Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

Reports indicate that three missiles hit dangerously close to the city’s center, leaving a trail of destruction and despair in their wake.

Interestingly, this assault occurred shortly after news emerged of a separate Ukrainian offensive on a Russian military airfield situated in occupied Crimea.

In a distressing revelation, the minister disclosed that among the casualties were two innocent children. Rescue efforts are underway as law enforcement personnel meticulously sift through the debris, fearing more victims may be uncovered.

Commenting on the situation, President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that had Ukraine been equipped with adequate air defense resources, the tragic Russian bombardment could have been averted. He once again pleaded with Western nations for urgently needed assistance and support.

Chernihiv, the site of this heart-wrenching tragedy, lies a mere 100km (60 miles) from the Russian border, underscoring the proximity and tensions between the two nations.
