Ruling halts Ganduje’s suspension from APC

An order from a Federal High Court in Kano has stopped the alleged suspension of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, by his ward.

The decision was made late on Wednesday following an ex parte motion filed by Ganduje to uphold his right to a fair hearing.

The parties involved in the case include the police, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and nine other individuals.

Previously, on Monday, April 16, APC officials in Dawakin ward, Tofa LGA of Kano State, reportedly suspended the APC National chairman on allegations of corruption.

Following this, the State Working Committee of the APC invalidated the suspension and penalized the ward officials with a one-month suspension.

However, at a Kano High Court on Tuesday, Judge Usman Na’Abba upheld Ganduje’s purported suspension.

In the court’s order delivered on Wednesday and revealed to the press on Thursday, Judge A.M Liman stated that the suspension should not be enforced until the case is heard and resolved.

“The respondents, their representatives, or affiliates are hereby restricted from executing or giving effect to the supposed decision made during the emergency meeting of the so-called executive members of APC at Ganduje Ward of Dawakin Tofa Local,” Liman declared.

The court has set April 30 for the hearing of Ganduje’s appeal.
