“Rome is the place to express yourself,” James Brown comments on the arrest of homosexuals at gay wedding

James Brown, a Nigerian crossdresser, has criticized the homosexuals who were arrested at a same-sex wedding in Delta State.

According to NewsNow Nigeria, the Delta State Police Command announced that it had arrested over 100 individuals suspected of being gay and participating in a wedding ceremony at a hotel in the state.

It is well-known that Nigeria has enacted an anti-gay law, which was put into effect by Former President Goodluck Jonathan and stipulates a 14-year prison sentence for anyone found guilty of engaging in same-sex acts.

Homosexual relationships are illegal in Nigeria.

This law was first implemented in December 2019 when 47 men, who had been arrested by the police the year before for publicly displaying affection towards individuals of the same sex in a Lagos hotel, were brought before the court.

Now, another 100 men have been arrested and paraded for holding a same-sex wedding.

Commenting on the situation, James Brown criticized the individuals involved, highlighting that Nigeria’s laws prohibit homosexuality.

He emphasized that there are limitations on self-expression in the country and advised anyone interested in practicing homosexuality to go to other countries.

“I am sorry this happened, but if you want to express yourself, go to Rome, London, Italy, the US, and express yourself there,” he said.

In Nigeria, our rights are limited, so let’s abide by those limitations and utilize our rights in Nigeria because it seems like we don’t make use of them.”
