Roger Federer ‘set to become tennis’ first billionaire in 2020′

It is reported that in 2020, Roger Federer is on track to become tennis’ first billionaire, becoming only the fourth sportsperson to achieve this feat alongside Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Floyd Mayweather.

Federer’s wealth comes from both prize money and endorsements with various global brands.

According to Tennis.com, Federer has already earned £689 million and has a further £153 million guaranteed from sponsorship contracts.

ATP figures state that Federer has amassed £98 million in prize money from singles and doubles tournaments, in addition to earnings from major competitions and a South American exhibition tournament during the off-season, contributing £7.6 million annually.

Businessinsider.com highlighted his commercial success off the tennis court, attributing his fortune to sponsorship deals with brands like Rolex, Uniqlo, Credit Suisse, and Mercedes Benz.

Forbes also reported that Federer’s annual income has reached a record high of £80 million, a significant increase from the estimated £59 million earned in 2018. His three-year sponsorship with Uniqlo, signed in 2018, is reportedly worth £23 million a year, and he previously had a multi-million pound deal with Nike.
