Rivers State APC Firestorm: Allegations of Amaechi’s Strategy Against Tinubu by Okocha

In a recent development, Tony Okocha, the ousted Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has made serious accusations against former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi. Okocha claims that Amaechi is plotting to take control of the party in the state to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Okocha adamantly declared his determination to thwart Amaechi and his alleged associate, Emeka Beke, in their efforts against Tinubu.

When addressing journalists in Abuja following the court ruling that disbanded his committee on August 15, Okocha expressed his concerns about the situation.

A High Court in Port Harcourt had dismissed the Okocha-led caretaker committee and reinstated Emeka Beke as the APC Chairman.

Reflecting on the events, Okocha remarked, “We were baffled by the decision to appoint an individual with limited academic credentials to lead meetings that we, with our qualifications, also attended. The APC leader at the time insisted on having someone with a ‘street boy mentality’.”

“However, the truth was that he was seeking a puppet, someone who would do his bidding. We resisted, but the APC leader, who was a minister then, wielded significant influence within the party,” Okocha continued.

“During the APC’s presidential primaries, Beke led the Rivers delegation of 56 delegates in casting their votes for Rotimi Amaechi. This action resulted in Amaechi’s significant support from the state.

“There seems to be a plan to elevate Amaechi’s ally, positioning Amaechi as the APC leader, and subsequently using the party to challenge President Buhari in 2027. We will not permit this to happen,” affirmed Okocha.
