The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has refuted claims of inviting former Governor Nyesom Wike to join their party.
Referring to those urging Wike to join their party as imposters, the state chapter dismissed the notion.
In a statement on Saturday, June 24, the state Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, emphasized that Wike’s conduct toward APC members during his tenure is evidence that he is not associated with the party.
Nwaju disassociated the party leadership from any purported stakeholder meetings proposing that Wike be given control over the party and its advantages, and challenged anyone to provide video evidence of Wike openly campaigning for the APC in the state during the recent election.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment to wholeheartedly support the policies and programs of the federal government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, the state chapter urged “blackmailers” to refrain from using the name of the APC to gain favor with “desperate politicians seeking relevance at the center.”
