Revocation of UNICAL Graduates’ Certificates by NYSC

According to the National Youth Service Corps, a total of ninety-nine individuals, with the exception of two, were wrongly mobilized from the University of Calabar between the service years of 2021 and 2023.

In response, the NYSC has nullified the National Service Certificates of the identified 101 individuals and has urged the public to verify the legitimacy of certificates issued by the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters.

This information was disclosed in a statement released by Eddy Megwa, the Director of Information and Public Relations at NYSC, on Monday.

The management of NYSC has also reiterated their dedication to ensuring that only eligible individuals receive the National Service Certificates, while those from unaccredited institutions are not recognized.

The statement emphasizes, “The University of Calabar fraudulently mobilized the following ninety-nine (99) individuals, along with two (2) others on exemption for National Service during the 2021, 2022, and 2023 NYSC Service Years.

“The National Youth Service Corps administration affirms its relentless efforts to prevent unqualified Nigerian youths, both locally and internationally trained, particularly those claiming to have graduated from unaccredited universities, from being acknowledged, and to ensure that only qualified individuals receive NYSC National Service Certificates”.

As a result, the NYSC Management has invalidated the Certificates of National Service for the mentioned individuals.

The public, including Employers of Corps members, Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Corporations, Religious Organizations, Multinational Companies, Institutions producing Corps members, and other key NYSC stakeholders, are urged to take note of this notice for immediate action. Furthermore, individuals are encouraged to verify the legitimacy of National Service Certificates, Exemption, and Exclusion Letters issued for any purpose by contacting the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja.”
