Report: Julius Berger Pays N4.7 Billion in Taxes in Six Months

In the first half of 2023, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc revealed that it contributed a total of N4.7 billion in taxes to the Federal Government. This information was disclosed in the company’s 2023 sustainability report filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited.

Alongside its tax payments, the company also disbursed payments amounting to N3.7 billion to its fund providers in 2023. These payments included loan repayments, interest payments, and other financial commitments, ensuring the availability of capital for future growth and development projects.

Emphasizing the importance of transparency and corporate citizenship, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has reiterated its commitment to prompt and accurate tax remittances. The company stated that in 2023, it contributed a substantial sum of N4,722,264,000 to the government’s tax revenue.

Highlighting the significance of these tax contributions in funding essential public services and infrastructure projects for the benefit of all Nigerians, the company expressed its dedication to nation-building through fulfilling its tax obligations.

Furthermore, Julius Berger disclosed that it expended N83 billion on employee wages and benefits in 2023, with employee retirement security expenditure decreasing by 11.9% to N2.9 billion compared to N3.29 billion in 2022.

The company also made gratuity payments totaling N762 million in 2023 upon employee retirement or termination, marking a decline of 55.4% from N1.71 billion in 2022.

In the preceding year, Julius Berger reported a revenue of N443.44 billion and recorded additional income of N22.73 billion. Operating costs for the company in the same period amounted to N346.46 billion.

With a profit before tax standing at N22.06 billion, Julius Berger attributed its operational efficiency and strategic growth initiatives to this financial performance.

Noteworthy among the company’s social responsibility endeavors was an investment of N505 million in community development projects.
