Reopening of Kano state COVID-19 testing center

The testing center in Kano, which had suspended its operation on April 22 due to a shortage of testing kits, has now been reopened by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC.

Concerns were raised by Nigerians about the continuous suspension of COVID-19 testing in the state, particularly in light of the numerous unexplained deaths that have occurred.

NCDC Director General, Chikwe Ihekwazu, took to his Twitter handle this afternoon to announce the reopening of the testing center.

”Thanks to incredible efforts of a joint Team from @NCDCgov @KNSMOH @aminukanoth & our partners, the #COVID19 lab at AKTH, Kano is back up & testing has resumed A 2nd lab at Bayero University Kano will be activated tomorrow Not where we want to be yet, but will #keeppushing”.
