Renowned Journalist, Ishiekwene, Invited by NCDMB for Book Reading in Bayelsa

An event for a book reading has been organized by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, featuring veteran Nigerian journalist, author, and columnist, Azu Ishiekwene.

Scheduled to take place in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, the event is set for Thursday.

Ishiekwene made this announcement on Tuesday through a statement titled “Join me for an Inspiring Book Reading in Yenagoa.”

As part of the event, he will be sharing insights from his book, ‘Writing for Media and Monetising It’, with 60 students from four local schools.

Expressing his excitement, Ishiekwene mentioned, “I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been invited by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board for an exciting book reading event in Yenagoa on Thursday, August 29.

“I will be sharing insights from my book ‘Writing for Media and Monetising It’ with 60 students from four local schools during this special occasion.

“Having garnered extensive reviews, this book reflects my more than 35 years of experience in journalism. Published by Premium Times Books in June, I regret not being able to meet all interested individuals in person; however, I encourage you to follow updates on my upcoming events and appearances through my website www.azu.media.

“This opportunity to inspire young minds and share my passion for writing and media is truly exciting to me,” Ishiekwene stated.

He also highlighted the role of NCDMB in promoting local content development within Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, stating that through this event, the board indicates its commitment to nurturing the next generation of media professionals and writers.

“At the book reading, I will be sharing personal experiences, insights, and strategies for navigating the world of writing and media. Engaging in discussions and answering questions from the students, we will together explore the exciting possibilities awaiting aspiring writers and media enthusiasts,” he added.

The 280-page book by Ishiekwene, titled ‘Writing for Media and Monetising It,’ comprises 15 chapters and informative epilogues.

Serving as a valuable guide for students, professionals, and media scholars seeking to navigate the complexities of modern media practice, this book is considered innovative material by many.
