Release of 313 Suspected Terrorists Ordered by Court in Borno

An order from a Federal High Court in Borno State mandates the military to release 313 individuals suspected of terrorism. The court found insufficient evidence to incriminate these suspects following investigations.

In a briefing on military operations nationwide in Abuja, Gen. Buba Edward, Director of Defence Media Operations, announced this directive on Thursday.

Assuring compliance with the court’s ruling, Buba stated that the military will hand over the suspected terrorists to the state government.

He explained, “A total of 313 detainees held for terrorism-related charges are set to be released to the Borno State government, in accordance with the Federal High Court in Maiduguri’s decision earlier this week. The release was ordered due to lack of evidence post investigation and legal proceedings.”

“These cases were handled by the Department of Prosecution, Federal Ministry of Justice. Subsequently, the Borno State Government will take charge of further actions regarding these individuals.”
