Recent Operations in Taraba Result in Arrest of Criminals and Terrorists

Collaborative efforts between the troops of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE and various security agencies have led to the successful arrest of multiple criminals and terrorists in different parts of Taraba State.

In a recent statement by Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, it was revealed that on August 18, 2024, a raid was conducted based on credible intelligence in Takum LGA of Taraba State, resulting in the apprehension of a suspected kidnapper named David Musa.

Similarly, on August 20, 2024, troops detained suspected gunrunners James Nuhu and Dan-Asabe Ango in Wukari LGA of Taraba State. The suspects admitted to their involvement in various criminal activities in Wukari and its surroundings.

During a subsequent operation at the residence of Ibrahim Philemon, mentioned by the suspects as the keeper of their weapons and illicit gains, a significant cache of ammunition and weapons was recovered from a safe cabinet.

Additionally, a separate operation along the Chikai – Bantaji Market axis led to the arrest of 7 suspects believed to be terrorists, involved in crimes such as kidnapping, cattle rustling, and attacks on civilians in Wukari metropolis.

Furthermore, Isyaka Yusuf, an arms trafficker and key figure among the terrorists, was apprehended at Bantaki Market.

Two more suspects, Muhammad Usman and Abdulqadir Sule, were captured along Wukari – Ibi Road in Taraba State, found in possession of multiple mobile phones, motorcycles, and a sum of money. They are currently under investigation.

Finally, on August 21, 2024, Mela Selim, believed to be a Tiv militia leader responsible for orchestrating the murder of the Chief of Chanchangi in Jankindo village on July 19, 2024, was tracked down and arrested by the troops.
