Recent Military Operations in Borno State Result in Elimination of 5 Terrorists and Surrender of 44 Others

Reports indicate that a successful counter-terrorism operation carried out by troops in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State resulted in the death of five terrorists by the Nigerian Army.

During the operation on August 12, 2024, in addition to eliminating the terrorists, the troops also discovered explosives, a Rocket Propel Gun, and six motorcycles, among other items.

A statement released by the Army on X.com mentioned that 44 Boko Haram militants along with their families surrendered to the troops stationed in Bama, Dikwa, and Gwoza Local Government Areas of Borno state.

The official statement highlighted the successful raid on an Islamic West Africa Province terrorists’ hideout, which led to the neutralization of five terrorists and the recovery of various weapons and ammunition.

Furthermore, through continuous offensive actions against terrorist factions in the North East region, 44 Boko Haram insurgents and their families surrendered to the military in Bama, Dikwa, and Gwoza Local Government Areas.

In another development, troops in Plateau State arrested Maawuya Shuaibu, a notorious cattle rustler, and seized 32 rustled cows from him.

The Army’s endeavours also extended to Bayelsa State, where they conducted raids on suspected criminal hideouts in Korokorosie Community of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area. During this operation, Mr Donald Emason was apprehended, and a Revolver pistol and two locally made guns were recovered.

Also, in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State, a suspected gun trafficker named Mohammed Bello, aged 33, was captured. Bello confessed to being involved in the supply of firearms to the Bello Chikidawoje’s kidnapping gang in the region.
