Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti Reveals Reasons Behind Eden Hazard’s Struggles

Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, has opened up about why midfielder Eden Hazard failed to live up to the fans’ expectations during his time at the club.

The former Chelsea winger departed from Santiago Bernabeu last summer and later announced his retirement from professional football.

Hazard made a high-profile move from Stamford Bridge to the Spanish capital in the summer of 2019.

However, he found it challenging to replicate the form he showcased at Chelsea while playing for Real Madrid.

Struggling with injuries and a loss of form and confidence, the once dynamic player appeared to be a shadow of his former self.

Ancelotti mentioned that the Belgian international faced difficulties due to injuries and a lack of intensity in his training sessions.

According to Ancelotti on the Obione podcast via Madrid Xtra, “Eden Hazard is a wonderful individual. His struggles were primarily due to injuries, but he also found it challenging to maintain a competitive edge.”

He added, “When you are not in the starting lineup, it is crucial to train with vigor and determination. Hazard encountered difficulties in competing, fighting, and performing to his best.”
