Re-election of Bola-Audu as President of Senior Civil Servants Association

For a second term, Innocent Bola-Audu has been re-elected as the national president of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN.

During the ASCSN emergency National Delegates Conference (NDC) over the weekend, the new officers were elected.

An official statement signed by Innocent Bola-Audu, the president, and Gamaliel Acho, the national secretary, was shared with the press in Abuja on Sunday. The statement mentioned that the NDC reviewed and endorsed the judgment of the National Industrial Court dated July 9, 2024.

The judgment, delivered by Justice O. O. Oyewunmi in suit No. NIC/ABJ/214/2022, confirmed Innocent Bola-Audu as the legitimate national president of the association.

Considered as free and fair, the NDC applauded the elections and noted the active participation of delegates from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.

Furthermore, the NDC strongly criticized the attempts by certain former and current members and staff of the association, along with their allies, to divide, denigrate, and harm the association. They were denounced for trying to impede the ongoing police investigations into the financial misconduct and other offenses committed against the association.

According to the statement, the NDC commended the efforts of the Nigerian Police, led by the Inspector General of Police, for ensuring a thorough investigation and the proper prosecution of individuals implicated in misappropriating the association’s funds.

The NDC pledged its full cooperation with law enforcement authorities to ensure that justice is served.

Additionally, they called on the Inspector General of Police to intervene and instruct the Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory to reopen the ASCSN National Secretariat’s Abuja annex, sealed weeks earlier.

Regarding the sealing of the annex, the NDC found it to be a flagrant violation of the law, particularly the Police Act, and a disrespectful act towards the judgment of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, which obstructed the association’s operations.

The appointment of Gamaliel Chinyere Acho as the new Secretary General of the association, previously decided by the Central Working Committee (CWC) and endorsed by the National Executive Council (NEC), was confirmed.

Among the other officers elected to the Central Working Committee were vice presidents Hassan Abba, Tari Dounana, Andrew Magaji, and Odunayo Adesoye; Rahab Maigari as the national treasurer; Nkiru Aneke as the internal auditor; Jonathan Aligbe as the national trustee; and national ex-officials Gold Dybo, Isaac Lingmu, Christopher Lengbedion, Adebayo Oluwa, and Orisamuyiwa Abidakun.
