Promotion of Inclusion Encouraged for Tinubu by Yankassai and Others

A number of prominent Nigerians have urged President Bola Tinubu to prioritize inclusive governance as a solution to the challenges confronting the nation.

Tinubu took over from Muhammadu Buhari, whose eight-year administration was marked by accusations of favoritism in the distribution of democratic benefits by political analysts and civil society groups.

In a conversation with NewsNow in Abuja on Friday, elder statesman Tanko Yakassai stated, “The nation is unified. Anyone claiming otherwise is unaware of the current situation. There is no region of the country pitted against another.

“We are a single nation. The government emphasizes peaceful coexistence to encourage Nigerians to live in peace and unity.”

Adding to this, former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, advised the administration under Tinubu to persist in promoting inclusivity in appointments and development projects’ distribution while fostering national unity.

“The government must address the inclusivity matter to ensure fair representation in appointments from all regions.

“If mistakes were made in previous administrations, the current government should make every effort to rectify them. All corners of the nation should have representation and involvement in appointments and infrastructure development,” he remarked.

Former Secretary General of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Mr. Anthony Sani, observed that the nation’s disunity issue has been exacerbated by the recent surge in insecurity.

Sani expressed, “The country’s challenges stem from insecurity fueled by inadequate governance, characterized by unfairness in resource access distribution through appointments, projects, and contracts.

“Consequently, the erosion of national ideals, ethical values, and understanding of what is right and wrong has occurred, contributing to a loss of individual sanctity.”
