Pro-Biafra Groups Seek Diplomatic and Legal Action in “Igbo Must Go” Situation

Urging Igbo leaders to initiate a collective legal process for the self-determination of the Igbo nation, the leadership of the Coalition of Pro Biafra Organizations, COPROBIG, has called for action.

This call was made in response to a demand by an unidentified group for Igbos to vacate Lagos State.

Comprised of various pro-Biafra factions such as Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Eastern Peoples Congress (EPC), Billie Human Rights Initiative (BHRI), Biafra Liberation Council (BLC), Biafra Revolutionary Force (BRF), Biafra Revolutionary Organization (BRO), Biafra Reconciliation (BR), and Union of Biafra Scientists and Engineers, the Coalition expressed disappointment in the silence of figures like Otumba Gani Adams, Ooni of Ife, and Yoruba leaders regarding the proposed harm towards Igbo lives and properties.

In a bold statement, they acknowledged the southern states’ call for Igbo Biafrans to depart Nigeria as a continuation of what they perceive as systemic prejudice and marginalization.

Criticizing the seemingly lenient response of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government and the failure to apprehend the organizers of the “Igbo Must Go” protest, the Coalition suggested that this lack of action indicated tacit approval from the authorities.

Furthermore, they urged Igbo diplomats to collaborate with other African advocates to safeguard the interests of the Igbo people and the restoration of Biafra.
