Sunday Ashefon, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students’ Matters, highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s significant commitment to the education sector.
Former president of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Ashefon, noted that Tinubu has achieved remarkable milestones within a short period, unlike any past leader.
Speaking at a town hall organized by NANS in Abuja, Ashefon emphasized the importance of educating youths on peaceful demonstrations amidst an upcoming hunger protest.
He pointed out that President Tinubu has always been focused on empowering Nigerian youth well before assuming leadership, creating avenues for their growth.
Ashefon stated, “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been on the front lines, understanding the challenges faced by the young population. He is a president who facilitates opportunities for youth, evident in his appointment of young ministers in the current administration.
“I can confidently say that no leader has invested as much in education within a year as Asiwaju Tinubu. Previous administrations have not achieved the same level of progress in this sector.
“I admit my shortcomings in communicating the government’s achievements effectively to the students. Our administration has introduced various programs like the student loan scheme and addressed issues like the IPPIS system in universities.”
Addressing a similar gathering, Udengs Eradiri, the former Bayelsa governorship candidate, urged protesters to avoid damaging public or private properties during the planned demonstration on Thursday.
Reflecting on the aftermath of the EndSARS protests in 2020, Eradiri emphasized the importance of supporting the government for collective success.
He stated, “The focus should be on helping the government succeed. Destructive actions during protests only hinder our progress. Let’s learn from past events like the EndSARS protests and avoid repeating such mistakes.”
“We need to be cautious in our approach to protests to safeguard our future. Let’s emulate positive engagement rather than resorting to violence and destruction.”
“It’s crucial to support the current administration as they address various societal issues and maintain peace and stability.”
