President Tinubu presides over inaugural FEC meeting

The inaugural meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) is currently being chaired by President Bola Tinubu at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Attending the meeting are Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan.

Also present are Chief of State to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, the new ministers, and other top government functionaries.

According to the Ministers’ Statutory Powers and Duties Act, the council’s role is to serve as an advisory body to the President, who also serves as its chairman.

The FEC plays a constitutional role in advising the President to determine the direction of the government, although the President has the final decision-making authority.

The FEC, as the cabinet of the federal government, is part of the executive branch and serves as an advisory body to the President.
