President Buhari’s decision to remove NEMA DG and appoint retired Air Vice Marshal as a replacement

​The termination of the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Maihaja, by President Buhari has been announced. He has appointed Air Vice Marshal Muhammadu Alhaji Muhammed (pictured above) as the replacement.

 

An official statement from the office of the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF) disclosed that Muhammadu Alhaji’s appointment was implemented on Thursday, April 30th, for an initial period of four years in accordance with Section 3 of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Act.

 

“The erstwhile Director General, Mustapha Y. Maihaja, has been directed to hand over all official matters to AVM Muhammadu Alhaji Muhammed immediately. The President thanked the outgoing Director-General for his services and charged the new appointee to serve with diligence and commitment.” as per the statement

 

Engr. Mustapha Yunusa Maihaja was appointed in March 2017 subsequent to the dismissal of Alhaji Muhammed Sani-Sidi as NEMA DG.
