President Buhari condemns execution of CAN Chairman by Boko Haram

President Buhari has strongly criticized the killing of Rev. Lawan Andimi, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) chairman, who was abducted by Boko Haram insurgents during an attack in Michika, Adamawa State. In a statement issued by his media aide Garba Shehu, the President described the execution as a cruel, inhuman, and deliberately provocative act. He also revealed that the insurgents had expressed willingness to release the abducted CAN President to a third party before the execution.

The President extended his condolences to the Christian community throughout Nigeria, the government and people of Adamawa state, and the Bishop’s family over the sad loss. He assured that the terrorists would continue to pay a heavy price for their actions and would be comprehensively defeated by the determined armed forces.

President Buhari also urged nations of the world to end all support provided to Boko Haram and Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA) terrorist groups, whose primary goal is to sow death, violence, and destruction in the sub-region.
