In an unexpected show of support, Georgiy Sudakov, the Ukrainian international player, has expressed his belief in Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk’s chances of winning the prestigious Ballon d’Or award.
Mudryk made a high-profile move to Stamford Bridge in January 2023, for a staggering fee of £89 million.
Despite this significant transfer, the 23-year-old has faced challenges in finding his footing with the Blues.
Across 58 appearances, the winger has only managed to score seven goals.
Despite Mudryk’s struggles on the field, Sudakov maintains a firm belief in his compatriot’s potential to soar to the heights of football success.
During an interview with The Guardian, Sudakov stated, “Mykhailo is an exceptional talent with boundless capabilities. With his skill set, he has the potential to clinch the Ballon d’Or, provided he maximizes his abilities. The ball is in his court.”
“I have faith that he will ultimately showcase his full potential. Ukraine boasts immense talent, and Mudryk stands as a shining example for aspiring players in our country,” Sudakov added.
