Police Summons Nollywood Star Tonto Dikeh Over Alleged Cyberbullying

Actress Tonto Dikeh has been summoned by the Nigeria Police Force to its headquarters in Abuja. This summons is linked to an investigation into various charges including criminal defamation, cyberbullying, and forgery.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, the invitation was made under the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Monitoring Unit.

A letter of invitation dated August 5, 2024, and signed by the Head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, DCP A.A. Elleman, disclosed that Tonto Dikeh is a significant figure in the ongoing investigation by the unit.

The letter stated, “An investigation on criminal defamation, forgery, falsehood, cyberbullying, and criminal conversion, reported to the Inspector-General of Police, involves your name and others prominently.

“In light of this, you are requested to attend an interview with SP Aminu Abdullahi Sokoto on 7th August 2024 at 10:00hrs to provide further information on the allegations.

“Your cooperation in this matter would be greatly appreciated.”

Confirming Dikeh’s invitation in response to a petition against her, the Force PRO also mentioned that she was released after providing her statement as the investigation progresses.

“She was asked to respond to a petition lodged against her and has been allowed to leave the premises while inquiries are ongoing,” Adejobi explained.
