Unexpectedly, police officers were spotted distributing sachet water to protesters on Thursday.
A video posted by the police department on their official social media account showed officers giving out water to the protesters.
The police’s caption on the video read: “We are in support as long as it remains peaceful” – signifying their backing for peaceful demonstrations.
Protests broke out in several states on Thursday as citizens voiced their frustration with the current economic challenges facing the country.
Nigerians launched the #EndbadgovernanceinNigeria movement on August 1, 2024, to highlight their grievances to the government.
