Police in Lagos apprehend two suspects believed to be involved in robbery and confiscate ammunition

At a hotel located along AIT Road in the Agbado area of Lagos State, two individuals suspected of robbery were taken into custody. The incident took place on Monday at approximately 3 pm.

An anonymous police source from the division disclosed that the suspects were detained in response to a distress call concerning a robbery at the hotel.

Upon their apprehension, various weapons were seized, including four locally crafted guns, a Toyota Corolla sedan, a Toyota Camry sedan, five live ammunition cartridges, and four expended ones.

“This incident occurred today, April 15, around 0030 hours, while officers from the Agbado Division were conducting residential patrols as instructed by the area commander. Upon receiving a distress call about an ongoing robbery at a hotel along AIT Road, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) led the patrol team to confront the suspects. Two robbers were subsequently apprehended, and the following items were recovered from them,” the source stated.

Additionally, two Nokia phones, one HTC phone, a jackknife, six ATM cards, three watches, three handbags, and the sum of N54,000 were found.

The source mentioned that an initial inquiry uncovered that the armed robbery gang consisted of nine members, and they had injured two lodgers before the police intervention.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident and mentioned that the victims were receiving medical care while the investigation was ongoing.

“The injured victims are currently receiving treatment in a hospital, and efforts are underway to capture the other members of the gang,” Hundeyin stated.

Earlier, it had been reported that the Lagos State Police Command had detained eight suspects on its wanted list for alleged armed robbery activities.
