Police in Bauchi apprehend suspect of armed robbery for assaulting a private residence

An individual named Usama Mohammed, a 20-year-old resident of Jalo village in Giade, was detained by detectives from the Giade Divisional Police headquarters under the Bauchi State Police Command.

According to a press release provided to the media by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, the arrest was made in connection with charges of criminal conspiracy, trespass, and armed robbery.

Wakil elaborated, “The apprehension followed an emergency call from a victim on August 2, 2024, reporting an intrusion by four armed assailants wielding knives and cutlasses around 9:40 pm. The thieves made off with an Itel A70 mobile phone worth N75,000 and a Huawei phone valued at N30,000.”

The PPRO mentioned that upon receiving the distress call, “a team of detectives headed by DPO Giade swiftly responded to the scene and captured Usama Mohammed, while the other accomplices are still at large.”

“Extensive endeavors are underway to track down the remaining suspects and ensure they face justice.”

Ahmed Wakil also hinted that in adherence to the police’s constitutional duty to protect lives and property, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, has instructed the case’s transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a discreet probe.
