The gun duel between a combined security team and suspected armed robbers in Osogbo resulted in the death of three robbers and injuries to five others. According to a security source, the robbers, numbering over 20, attacked the defunct Osogbo Steel Rolling Mill, now known as Integrated Steel PLC of Dangote Group. They were in the process of looting electrical installations when they were confronted by hunters, who engaged them in a gun battle. The hunters then called for police assistance, leading to a prolonged exchange of gunfire that lasted over three hours. The injured robbers were taken to Osun State University Teaching Hospital for treatment, while the deceased were deposited at the morgue of the State Specialist Hospital. Although the Osun State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident, she could not provide specific details on the number of robbers killed.
