‘Police disregard my commands, causing frustration’ – Kano Gov, Yusuf

The behavior of the Police Command in Kano State has left Governor Abba Yusuf frustrated.

Yusuf criticized the police for failing to follow his directives as the State’s Chief Security Officer.

Expressing his dissatisfaction, the Governor mentioned that the police personnel stationed in the state were uncooperative.

He stated, “While all other security agencies in the state collaborate with me, the police stand out for their lack of cooperation.

“Whenever I issue instructions to the police, they refuse to comply, citing that they receive orders from higher authorities.

“As the Executive Governor and Chief Security Officer of this state, it is disheartening that my directives are not respected by the police. This situation is both frustrating and regrettable,” Yusuf expressed.

These remarks were made by Yusuf on Wednesday during a stakeholders’ meeting convened at the Africa House, located within the Government House in Kano.

Furthermore, he revealed intelligence reports indicating that certain dissatisfied politicians were scheming to exploit the upcoming nationwide protests as a platform to incite violence within the state.

“Our intelligence suggests that certain opposition politicians with grievances are plotting to seize control of the impending nationwide demonstrations to instigate chaos in Kano.

“Their plan involves masquerading as members of our Kwankwasiyya movement, engaging in arson and looting activities to falsely implicate our supporters,” Yusuf disclosed.

The Governor urged the protesting youth to comport themselves peacefully and responsibly, assuring them of his willingness to receive them at the Government House to receive their grievances, which he would then forward to the Federal Government.

“I will not evade the situation. I am prepared to welcome them at the Government House to receive their demands and present them to the Federal Government, provided they maintain peace,” the Governor affirmed.

During the discussion, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sunusi II, cautioned the youth to exercise caution during the protests, warning against potential infiltration by criminals that could result in casualties and property damage.

He aligned with the Governor’s decision to engage with the protesters and advocate for their concerns to be addressed through appropriate channels.
