A suspect believed to be responsible for the killing of an Abia university student has been arrested by the police

In connection with the tragic incident last March where a student from Abia State University, Emmanuel Uche, lost his life in what appears to be a clash involving cult groups, the Abia State Police Command has taken into custody one Emmanuel Victor as the prime suspect.

ASP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, made the announcement on Thursday, conveying the message on behalf of Commissioner of Police Kenechukwu Onwumelie.

A portion of the statement reads as follows: “A disturbing video emerged on 11/3/2024, showing the brutal killing of Emmanuel Uche, a fifth-year student at Abia State University, right outside Miracle Lodge in Uturu.”

“Following actionable information, a team of detectives from the Abia State Police Command arrested the main suspect today, 18/4/2024, around 11:00 AM in Isiukwuato. This individual was clearly identifiable in the viral video carrying out the murder of Emmanuel Uche at Miracle Lodge in Abia State University, Uturu.”

The statement also confirmed that the suspect “has owned up to the crime. He is presently being held in custody and will face legal proceedings.”
