Piers Morgan Takes a Break from TV Due to “Mild” Coronavirus Symptoms

After experiencing a “mild” symptom of COVID-19, British journalist Piers Morgan has announced his temporary withdrawal from presenting ITV’s flagship morning show, Good Morning Britain.

On Sunday night, Morgan tweeted, “On medical advice, and out of an abundance of caution for a mild symptom that arose in past 48hrs, I’ve had a test for COVID-19 and so won’t be working on GMB until I get the result back, which should be tomorrow.”

During Morgan’s absence, Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid will be filling in as hosts of Good Morning Britain as a precautionary measure in light of the coronavirus.

The decision comes after Morgan publicly ended his 15-year friendship with Donald Trump by writing an open letter to the US president following Trump’s decision to unfollow him on Twitter due to criticism of his handling of the coronavirus.
