Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Joins Chelsea from Barcelona in a £12m Player-Plus-Cash Deal

Confirmation has come from Chelsea about the acquisition of Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a deal valued at £12m along with their left-back Marcos Alonso as part of the agreement.

The former Arsenal captain has penned a two-year contract with the west London side. This deal also involves full-back Marcos Alonso moving in the opposite direction.

This move signifies Aubameyang’s return to England, just months after his free transfer to Barcelona in February, following his departure from Arsenal.

In an interview with the club’s website, Aubameyang expressed his happiness, stating, “I’m really happy. It’s an honour to be part of this team and I can’t wait to start. I have some unfinished business with the Premier League so it’s good to be back and really exciting.”

Meanwhile, Chairman Todd Boehly remarked, “Pierre-Emerick is an elite striker with a proven track record in the Premier League. His arrival strengthens our squad, giving us new attacking options.”

“We are thrilled to have Pierre-Emerick on board with us in the new era at Chelsea, and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”

Aubameyang will be joining Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Wesley Fofana at Chelsea following the substantial £280m expenditure by new owner Todd Boehly this summer.

Meanwhile, Aubameyang will need to wait several weeks for his Chelsea debut after sustaining a broken jaw in an armed robbery at his home in the early hours of Monday, August 29.
