The brave EFCC official who turned down a bribe of N100 million from Chinese nationals to obstruct an investigation has become an online sensation after his photo was widely circulated. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently confirmed the arrest of two Chinese nationals, Meng Wei Kun and Xu Kuoi, for attempting to bribe Lawal Abdullahi, the commission’s Sokoto zonal head of operations, and his team. The suspects, who are officials of Zhounghao Nigeria Limited, a construction company under investigation for alleged conspiracy, abuse of office, misappropriation, diversion of public funds, and money laundering, were caught in the act. Abdullahi has received widespread commendation for his refusal to compromise the case.
