Peseiro applies to coach Egyptian club, Zamalek

Zamalek SC, an Egyptian club, is currently looking for a new coach after the recent dismissal of Juan Carlos Osorio due to poor results. Among the candidates who have applied for the job is Jose Peseiro, the current head coach of Nigeria.

Sources indicate that Peseiro has submitted his CV for the coaching position at Zamalek SC. However, it’s uncertain whether Peseiro is the preferred option, as there are many other candidates being considered by the board of directors.

Despite applying for the job at Zamalek, Peseiro’s decision may not be well-received by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), his current employer. The 63-year-old recently signed a new short-term contract with the NFF, but is facing criticism following the poor performance of the Super Eagles in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

The Nigerian team has yet to secure a victory after two games, including a 1-1 draw against the Warriors of Zimbabwe. Overall, Peseiro’s application for the coaching position at Zamalek has raised questions about his future with the Nigerian national team.
