Peoples Democratic Party explains absence of protests in Zamfara state

According to the Zamfara chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, the lack of nationwide protests in the north-western state can be attributed to the effective governance of Governor Dauda Lawal.

During a discussion with journalists in Gusau, Acting Chairman Mukhtar Lugga analyzed the recent protests which have resulted in violence and looting in neighboring states.

Lugga emphasized, “Residents of Zamfara are content with the state leadership and the progress being made. The government has introduced numerous beneficial programs and policies including a state of emergency in education and health, clearance of gratuity arrears, as well as road construction, school and hospital refurbishments, and support for agricultural enterprises.”

Although acknowledging the prevailing challenges, Lugga expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s endeavors to tackle the socioeconomic issues faced by the country.

He added, “While hardships are widespread, all levels of government are actively implementing measures to address these challenges.”

Lugga encouraged citizens to uphold the law and offer prayers for the success of the country’s leadership in overcoming these obstacles.

Despite ongoing demonstrations until August 10, both Gusau and other areas in Zamfara state remained peaceful with minimal protest activity on Friday.
